A wide range of services are offered by Age UK Hillingdon. A brief description of each service is given below. For a more detailed view click on the link in the column on the left.
A&E Support and Aftercare – providing practical and emotional support to older people admitted to the A&E department at Hillingdon Hospital
Advocacy - aims to help people express their needs and preferences through the help of a trained volunteer, in order to solve a problem or obtain their rights.
Charity Shops – open six days a week selling good quality clothes, bric-a-brac, books etc.
Ethnic Minority Access Project - offers Information & Advice and Advocacy to BME elders in their appropriate language.
Failte - Irish social club
Friendly Friday Groups - at the Pembroke Centre and Cedar Brook Centre
Handyperson - offers free general household repairs and fitting adaptation for people with health problems.
Home from Hospital - assists older people in the borough with practical and emotional support on returning home for up to six weeks after discharge from hospital.
Information and Advice – Offering help with enquiries on a wide range of issues either by telephone or in person.
Interactive Club - aims to give older people from different ethnic communities somewhere to meet and socialise.
Nail Cutting Service - service offered to older people who are unable to cut their own toenails and not receiving a podiatry service from the NHS.
Tidy Gardens Service - service offered to older people who are unable to maintain their own gardens.
Time Travellers - help local school children with their reading, numeracy and craft skills thereby fostering relations between different generations.
Welfare Benefits - offers a benefits check, assistance with assessments, form filling, and reviews - to ensure older people maximise their income by obtaining benefits they are entitled to.
Will Writing - available for simple wills, by local solicitors, for the over 60’s. Home visits can be arranged for those who are housebound.
