Volunteering

If you have a few hours to spare every week don’t waste them – come and join our team of friendly volunteers and help us raise money to support the services we offer. You will make new friends, find new things to do, and widen your horizons, whilst helping our customers in a very friendly atmosphere. No special skills are needed and full support and assistance is given. You’ll find it a pleasant and rewarding way to spend a few hours.

How can you help?

We need volunteers for all the following services that Age UK Hillingdon provides: giving advice and providing information, advising and assisting older people on their benefit entitlement, providing an insurance service, helping in a charity shop, collecting donations for charity shop, speaking up for elderly people, befriending elderly people at home or on the telephone, helping older people regain their independence after a stay in hospital, helping local school children with reading and craft work (for over 55's only), providing a handyperson and home security service, helping older neighbours with small tasks, helping at the Pembroke Centre/Cedar Brook social clubs, helping at the Multi-Cultural Food and Fitness club, helping in our main office.

Would you like to become a volunteer advocate?

You may have the special qualities of an advocate of: you are good at listening, talking and communicating with others including statutory and voluntary bodies, you are reliable, resourceful and prepared to attend training courses and volunteer support meetings, you are willing to give a few hours a week to older people in a one to one partnership to help them improve the quality of their lives. Age UK Hillingdon will provide training and support for advocates on a regular basis and reimburse advocates for out of pocket expenses.
